Types of civil ships

The world fleet consists of 6 main types of ships: tankers, passenger ships, container ships, fishing ships, bulk carriers and general cargo ships. The modern fleet has more than 55,000 civilian ships carrying cargo around the world, and this number is growing from year to year. The engine of the container ship is 1000 times more powerful than a regular family car. However, the container ship runs at a top speed of 23 knots, which means just 26.5 miles per hour.
